Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Cream the softened unsalted butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add egg yolks and vanilla extract to the mixture and beat until smooth.
  3. Sift together all-purpose flour and salt; slowly mix into the wet ingredients.
  4. Chill the formed dough in disks wrapped in plastic for 30 minutes.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Roll out the chilled dough to ¼ inch thickness.
  7. Cut shapes with cookie cutters and arrange on a baking sheet.
  8. Bake cookies for 12 to 15 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
  9. Cool on a rack after resting for 5 minutes on the baking sheet.
