Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Whisk together the dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl.

  4. Combine the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips gently.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes.

  8. Mix together the caramel sauce and chopped pecans.
  9. Layer the cake with half of the caramel-pecan mixture on top.
  10. Add the second layer and repeat with remaining caramel and pecans.
  11. Garnish with whipped cream if desired.
