Preheat and Prepare
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
Combine Bread and Apples
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cubed bread and diced apples. Toss together until evenly distributed.
Whisk the Liquid Ingredients
- In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, melted butter, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and salt until smooth.
Combine Bread Mixture with Custard
- Pour the egg mixture over the bread and apple combination. Fold gently until well combined.
Add Optional Ingredients
- If desired, fold in raisins or chopped nuts into your mixture.
Transfer to Baking Dish
- Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.
Bake Until Golden
- Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden brown and custard is set.
Cool Before Serving
- Allow to cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.
