Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add 1 lb of ground beef or turkey. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, breaking the meat apart as it browns.
  2. Add 1 medium chopped onion and 2 minced garlic cloves to the skillet and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the onion is translucent.
  3. Stir in 1 cup of diced tomatoes, 1 chopped bell pepper, and 2 diced potatoes into the skillet. Cook for about 5 minutes.
  4. Sprinkle in 1 teaspoon of cumin, 1 teaspoon of chili powder, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Stir well.
  5. Reduce heat to low and cover the skillet, letting the mixture simmer for about 20 minutes.
  6. Add ½ cup of green peas during the last few minutes of simmering. Cook for about 3-5 minutes.
  7. Remove from heat, serve hot, garnished with freshly chopped cilantro.
