- In a large skillet over medium heat, add 1 lb of ground beef or turkey. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, breaking the meat apart as it browns.
- Add 1 medium chopped onion and 2 minced garlic cloves to the skillet and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the onion is translucent.
- Stir in 1 cup of diced tomatoes, 1 chopped bell pepper, and 2 diced potatoes into the skillet. Cook for about 5 minutes.
- Sprinkle in 1 teaspoon of cumin, 1 teaspoon of chili powder, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Stir well.
- Reduce heat to low and cover the skillet, letting the mixture simmer for about 20 minutes.
- Add ½ cup of green peas during the last few minutes of simmering. Cook for about 3-5 minutes.
- Remove from heat, serve hot, garnished with freshly chopped cilantro.
